Club History

In 1977, Bill Herman and Howard O’Neill decided that Sacramento needed a Corvette social club.  The first few meetings were held in people’s homes.  There were a total of 7 cars.  We still have three of the original members.  They include Anne Huntley, Terri Hunt, and Bruce Wildman.  We then moved to Daughtery Chevrolet’s sales meeting room.  We did runs to Apple Hill, the Delta and car races at the Roseville Raceway, Cal Expo Harness races.

We have met at the Coors and Bell Distributors in the Sacramento area.  We like to drink.  We then moved to the Cordova Lodge in Rancho Cordova.  We were there for about three years.  Membership was up to 30 cars.  Then we moved to Charlie Brown’s on Exposition Blvd.  Then onto the Buggy Whip on Fulton Blvd.  We outgrew that location.

As we have grown in membership we have moved around.  We have been at the Ramada Hotel on Bradshaw, the Dante Club, the McClellan Officer’s Club, the Elk’s Lodge in Carmichael, the Lion’s Gate and now back to the Dante Club. 

We started with a club Anniversary Progressive Dinners.  Again with the growth in membership, we outgrew people’s homes.  We did have an Anniversary Dinner in the park.  Now we have our Anniversary Dinners where we have our monthly meetings.

In 1984, we started the Fort Bragg Tour.  We had cars from Idaho, Arizona, Oregon, and California.  We had over 100 cars.  We had Miss Vetters contest.  This is where the men dressed in women’s bathing suits, negligees, and evening attire.  The first year Bob Schneider won.  We had “Show & Shine”s, dances, and cruises through town. We did this in Fort Bragg until 1987.  We moved in 1988 to Calistoga and 1989 to Konocti.  Since then, we try to get up to Fort Bragg every year.

The crab feed was started in 1987 and held at the VFW Hall.  We have done it every year since then as a fund raiser for the club.  We have shared the proceeds with Terri Hunt’s work with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Adopt a Family Christmas Program.

The best part of the club is the life long friendships you make, the support you get in your times of need with gaining and losing love ones.  We have helped each other through illnesses and joyful events.  We have enjoyed various runs all over North California and Southern Oregon. 

Performance Chevrolet became our sponsors in 2004.  The enthusiast support of the John and Val McMichael has been wonderful.  They have shared their time, home, and love of Corvettes with us.  Thank you.

RCCS - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors (BOD) of our “30 year old club” consists of past presidents and our new 2007-2008 president Ken Avila. Past presidents on the BOD include Bruce Wildman, Ed & Anne Dunbar, Jack & Darlene Harris, Rod Stelter, Bob Schneider, Mike & Jan Parigini, Rudy Antonucci, Doug Rosa, Bob Tarter, Danny Karppala, and Joan Mason.

Monthly Meetings

The club meets at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of every month at the The Dante Club is located at 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento 95825, 916-925-8230 .

The Dante Club is located on Fair Oaks Blvd, across the street from the Pavilions Shopping Center between Howe and Fulton.

Their driveway is between the McDonalds and the Pavilions Car Wash on the south side of Fair Oaks Blvd.
